NinjaTrader gives serious futures traders a serious platform: powerful charting, low commissions, and the speed that active markets demand. But the questions we kept hearing from our community weren't about the tools. They were about everything around them:
- Why did that trade go wrong?
- What habit is quietly draining my P&L?
- Why do I keep breaking my own rules?
Those aren't platform questions; they're coaching questions. Now, with Nina, you have answers.
What Nina can tell you about your trading
Here are four kinds of Daily Insights Nina can surface in your dashboard—the following alerts are triggered by your personal trading data:
- Hold-time ratio: You’re holding losing trades longer, a common pattern in trading.
- Overtrading after losses: Trading after a losing streak can magnify losses.
- Quick re-entries after losses: Quick re-entries cost you.
- Direction changes within a session: You switched direction X times.
Each insight shows up as a personalized insight card in your Daily Insights, complete with the specific numbers from your account, an explanation of your trading pattern, and what it might be costing you.
1. Hold-time ratio
Traders often obsess over their entries. But the data tells a different story. If you're holding losing trades longer than winning ones (a common pattern in trading), Nina will show you your ratio alongside your P&L on balanced days—and what that gap is costing you.
The difference isn't about picking better trades. It's about knowing when to get out of the bad ones.
2. Overtrading
More trades doesn't mean better results. If your trade count has been creeping up, Nina can flag it using your own session history and help you add a self-imposed daily limit to your plan.
It's not about avoiding losses—it's about catching the moment frustration starts driving your next trade instead of your plan.
3. Quick re-entries
The minute after a loss is one of the highest risk moments in any session. Trades placed within 60 seconds of a loss tend to have worse outcomes—not because the market changed, but because of revenge trading or overtrading.
If that pattern is showing up in your data, Nina can surface it using your own session history and help you consider a pause rule to break the cycle before it gets expensive.
4. Direction changes within a session
Switching direction multiple times in a session can signal a deliberate scalping strategy or reactive trading driven by noise. Traders who commit to a directional read at session open tend to outperform their flip trades.
Nina shows you the dollar difference between your directional trades and your flip trades, so you can see which approach is actually serving your P&L.
These are just a few of the patterns Nina is built to catch—ones that show up repeatedly in trader data and can be easy to miss without the right lens. The more you trade, the more clearly Nina can see what's shaping your results.
Interact with Nina to go deeper
Every insight with Nina is the start of a conversation, not the end. Click "Ask Nina" on any insight card, and a chat widget opens with Nina already loaded with your specific insight, your numbers, and an explanation of the pattern in your trading. You don't have to explain what you're looking at—Nina already knows. Just start asking.
Ask why your performance drops after losses. Ask what a healthy hold-time ratio looks like.
Your hold-time ratio is the average time you stay in a losing trade divided by the average time you stay in a winning one. A ratio above 1x means you're holding losers longer than winners.
Ask how to improve your win rate, or whether you perform better going short vs. long. Nina responds using your own trading data and the patterns that separate disciplined traders from reactive ones. The answers are specific to you, not recycled from a help center article.
And when you're ready to act, Nina can move with you. Want to set a daily loss limit right now? Nina will pull your current risk settings, suggest an amount based on your account balance, walk you through what changes, and execute it once you confirm.
No digging through menus. No support ticket. All done in the same conversation where you just learned why it matters.
Your Daily Insights: fresh, personalized insights every day
Every time you log in to your NinjaTrader dashboard, personalized insights from Nina will be waiting for you.* The Daily Insights section sits at the top of your dashboard and greets you with fresh, personalized insights based on your recent trading. Not generic tips or help articles. Actual data points pulled from your own account, in plain language, ready to act on—and backed by what we've learned from analyzing millions of live trades across the NinjaTrader platform.
Each card leads with a personalized headline and the specific numbers from your trading history, followed by an explanation of what the pattern means. A mini data table shows two rows side by side (e.g., your P&L on days when hold times were balanced vs. days when they weren't, with the difference highlighted). Then you get two choices: hit "Ask Nina" to go deeper, or hit "Dismiss" if it doesn't apply right now.
*Terms apply. A funded NinjaTrader brokerage account with 30 or more days of trading history is required for personalized Daily Insights.
