how can I enter a limit order that, if if goes unfilled, converts to a market order at the end of the bar?
I'm thinking that at the end of every bar I check for an open limit order and if so, cancel it and send a market order but there might be a more direct way........

depending on your broker, your fill may be worser than a market order.
