Due to limitation in IB backfill NT crashed, because it did not stop trying to load data (second open workspace) and abort was impossible. When I tried to fill the holes in the chart, crashes again. Any try to reload historical data resulted in a freeze. I tried to repair database, then repair NT. Still crashes. So I deinstalled, cleaned all directories, reinstalled NT 6.5.9, then tried to restore my backup from this morning. NT tells me that I succesfully restored everything. Unfortunately the default workspace is empty(?) and when I try to open the other workspaces NT freezes and gives me multiple error messages.
Any suggestions what to do? |

Took me 3 hours to solve the problem. Restoring was finally succesfull, but I did no more trust in any of the workspaces/templates, so I rebuilt them.
My recommendation: Leave the default workspace empty, so in case you connect to backfill one of your other workspaces there is nothing going on behind. I think it is dangerous to connect to data supplier / broker with several workspaces open. Main problem seems to be that NT 6.5.9 cannot handle backfill limitation of IB and "Abort" by user is not possible, so it freezes. Possibly NT was damaged because it had to be closed down by force. Loading data did not work afterwards. Problem is specific to Beta, NT 6.0 does not have workspaces, so I always could abort the loading manually, when IB backfill stopped. Have sent log and trace files for exam. |

Did not see any message, but if it loads the backfill of a couple of instruments and then stops, it is usually backfill limitation. I guess I should switch to E-signal or something alike for backfill, but IB is just cheaper.

Any IB limitation usually is propagated by the IB API. NT then will add log message.

Again crashes and again crashes of NT. Got the 101 ticker message in the log- and trace files (although I only had 46 on TWS and 6 on NT). I have to sort this out with IB.
What is really bad: When IB stops supplying data, NT crashes. I cannot abort the loading of data. Either after cklicking the "Abort" button NT will freeze, or sometimes during loading of data it will show the message that this process cannot be aborted. Anyhow my PC will freeze and I have to reboot, reinstall/repair NT every time. This is new in NT 6.5.9., because the abortion of the data loading was still possible in NT 6.0.8. With a data supplier like IB this is terrible. I am not an engineer or technician, but I agree with the other guy. If data supply or networks stops, NT should somehow reset itself but not freeze. |

Hello Dierk,
Thanks for your answer. This morning - when NT 6.5.9 was loading data - I right-clicked into one of the windows to change the time interval. Immediate freeze but loading continued. After loading finished I could no longer access the menu of any window with the right mouse button. The problem remains after restart, so NT is definitely dead and I now have to reinstall it again. This means that when NT is loading anything, you are not allowed to touch the PC, no chart and not any Abort button or whatsoever, because that means destroying NT and then reinstallation. NT 6.5.9 is really unstable when connected. I would appreciate if you could find the reason. |

Thanks for your feedback. Nothing has changed with 6.5.0.9 in that regard. I suggest not switching the instruments/interval as NT is still loading data.
Also: No need to reinstall. Tools->Options->Misc->Reset DB should do the job or worst case deleting the DB file <my documents>/NinjaTrader6.5/db/NinjaTrader.mdb.
