Is it possible to copy charts between workspaces, and, if so, how?
Thanks, Stephen |

Hi sgordet,
Thank you for your post. While it's not possible to directly transfer charts from one workspace to another you can create a chart template: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h..._templates.htm Then using that template you can within another workspace open a new chart and apply the template to use the same settings as a chart created within a separate workspace.

I've found using chart templates to be quite helpful. However I'm now looking for a way to copy session and bar duration info.
Example: I have 5 separate charts for 1 symbol. I want to use these 5 charts for 6 different symbols at the same time. The only way to do this would be to have 6 copies of each chart. Doing so will be very tedious. I know there isn't a way to copy a chart but would editing the workspace xml be a viable solution? Or would doing so cause errors? |

Hi shazzmoe,
Thank you for your post. I wouldn't recommend editing the workspace.xml file since it could result in errors and the result would be recreating the workspace. If you have 5 charts per instrument you can create a template for each chart and then apply it to 1 of the 6 instruments for each of the templates. What you may try is creating a template with the 5 instruments applied and their various settings and then creating a new chart with each of the instrument data series applied and then apply that template. As long as you have a template for each of the charts they will bring over the settings such as session and bar info as that would be saved in the individual template.

perhaps I'm missing something but when I load a chart template it doesn't change the bar time or session. It only changes things like indicators and color schemes.
For example: one chart may use 30 minute bars on a 24/5 session template and another may use 5 minute bars on CME US INDEX RTH session templete when I save the chart template it doesn't save that info. |

Hi shazzmoe,
Chart Templates don't hold the items you mentioned. Those are chart-by-chart settings much like which instrument a chart uses, for example.

Hi madLyfe,
Thank you for your post. You can create a chart template: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h..._templates.htm While not directly copying because as you would need to create an instrument and interval pair on a new chart to then apply the template it would include all of the settings and thus represents a way to copy settings from one chart to another.

Hi madLyfe,
I have forwarded this item to development who inform me of its reference number, which is 777 for ongoing development and its place as an enhancement. Using that reference number you can then provide it to us and we can provide insight into this item's development as an enhancement for NinjaTrader.

Hello Al,
Thank you for your post. This item remains on development's list of future considerations for the software. There is not currently any word as to if or when this feature would be adopted, but we will update this thread as more information becomes available.
