Problem with IB, keeps opening the login screen

    Hi Jason,

    same problem here.

    I did check the NinjaTrader Connection Guide for Interactive Brokers.
    I'm currently using NT 7.0.1000.6
    I'm currently using TWS 917.8
    I deleted Config.xml from NinjaTrader 7 folder

    Still having the issue.

    Any ideas?

      "The connection issue is caused by a change in the windows caption of TWS 918. Because of this change in TWS, NinjaTrader is no longer able to find the running TWS instance and subsequently it gets into a loop."

      You should not experience such issues using TWS 917. Can you please tell me what exactly happens when you try to connect to IB in NinjaTrader.

      Please double check if you have TWS 917 installed at Help-->About TradersWorkStation.

        Thanks Jason,

        for sure i'm on TWS 917.8 from may the 24th.

        If i first log in TWS and then on NT there's no problem.

        If i first log in NT and i click on IB connection, i enter UN and PW and NT says "Connecting to IB"... never gets in.

        Is that correct?

          You should be able to connect both ways. Can you please enable 'Auto logon' in the IB connection wizard in NinjaTrader. Finish the connection and check if you can get connected .

              Hi,

              I have recently contacted IB for the problem of NT 7 being unable to connect properly to version 918.

              It would seem that version 917 has some serious bugs for some of us, such as average price not being displayed properly and so forth. Thus we were forced to upgrade to the latest version.

              Would there be support for version 918 anytime soon?

                We do not have an ETA on when to expect support for TWS 918. This will be announced in our release notes when available in a new version:

                  In the future could you please make it more obvious (alert message in NT ?) so that we don't lose time upgrading TWS, trying desperately to connect NT-TWS, search for a solution on internet, then downgrade TWS....
                  And that's without counting the financial loss of not launching my systems today...

                          I don't see why Ninja Trader needs to find the running instance of TWS on the basis of its window caption. All you need to connect to TWS is: IP, port and Client ID. I have 4+ year old programs that are still able to connect to TWS this way, even to the newest versions.

                            Unfortunately, NinjaTrader uses the windows caption as well to connect to TWS/IB.

                              But why is this if it's not needed? Maybe this should be a suggested fix for future versions of NinjaTrader. I think this could eliminate major incompatibility issues in the future as well. Since I will not downgrade to a old version of TWS I have to stop using NinjaTrader as for now.
