This process was implemented in both at Win7 and a Win XP SP3 platform.
Both OS's now throw the error
"Login failed. Unable to connect to PFGAPI.exe. Did you install PFG client yet?
Retreiving the COM class factory cojponent with CLSID {0A5C4E-E9B9-43AE-AEA0-F43F087D07CA} failed due to the following error: 80"
or
"Unable to cast COM object 'PFGTRADEAPI.PFGAPIClass' to interface type 'PFGTRADEAPI._PFGAPI'. This operation failed because the"
UPDATE - uninstalled new PFGAPI .445 and reinstalled .443. NT7B23 will not connect using the previous API - or so it appears. fwiw
Hove done a reboot of both operating systems. NT7 B23 connect just fine to other data providers.
Any thoughts or solutions would be appreciated.
- a solution. Though not what I expected, it has worked 100% of the time thus far. lol
1. disconnect from the PFG server in NT 6.5/7
2. In windows XP SP3: - select "control panel" and go to "add or remove programs" select
3. select the "PFGAPI" program and select "change"
4. in the Program Maintenance - InstallShield Wizard window, go next and thten select repair.
5. step thru the repair process and finish
6. Reconnect the NT 6.5/7 platform to the PFG connection
7. Enjoy!
This process also has been tested and works well for Win 7, and Mac's running Parallels 4.0 or later. It may be helpful to add this procedure the the Mac/Parallels morning startup process as the Parallels inteface seems to have more problems with Historic Data Server than Win XP/7 - fwiw
