Default NT7 wont open on windows 7, 64 bit??

I have windows 7, 64 bit. I downloaded the most recent version of NT7, and it automatically downloads the 32 bit version and a 64 bit version.

Then, I try the 64 bit version, and it opens. I try to connect to Trading Technologies and it says that its not supported with the 64 bit version, and to use the 32 bit version.

I try to open the 32 bit version and the load screen begins to load and then nothing happens, no control center or any NT window open whatsoever. I check in the task manager, and there is a .exe running for NT7. I end task, and try to open it again, and same thing over and over.

I uninstalled everything a few times, restarted the computer, etc, etc. Nothing has fixed the issue.

Any advice?

I've had that problem ones, just poped up out of nowhere. Heres how I solved it:

1) Goto Libraries\Documents\NinjaTrader 7\workspaces\
2) Remove all files except the _Workspaces.xml

This fixed it for me

Hello timothymhanna,

Can you please mail your trace file for today? This will help us identify where in the startup process it is getting stalled for you.

You can find this file at:
My Documents\NinjaTrader\trace\trace.20101027.txt

You can post here or email to support@ninjatrader.com

If you email, include reference # 387125

RyanM, I just emailed the file over because it was too large for posting on the forum here. Have you received the email?

Yes, thank you for the files. It looks like it is starting and connecting automatically to the AMP connection.

This autostart process may be causing a conflict. Please delete your config.xml file in:
My Documents\NinjaTrader 7

You can also temporarily move it outside the NinjaTrader directory in case it is not contributing to the issue.

Let us know if you are able to get started once you have a fresh config file.

When I removed the config file, it did start for me. I try to connect to the data feed though, and it says "connecting" to the Trading Technologies feed at the bottom left of NT7 32 for a really long time, and never actually connects.

I tried using the 64 bit version and connecting to Trading Technologies but it said that I can only use the 32 bit version for that feed. Is that correct? If so, how do I get NT to actually connect to the TT Feed? I used NT 6.5 no problem.

The Trading Technologies connection is 32 bit only.

I noticed from your files that you migrated the 6.5 database. Please try connecting with a new database to see if if it works any better.

Please rename your database.
To rename the DB:
  • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
  • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> DB--> NinjaTrader.SDF.
  • Right click on NinjaTrader.SDF and select "Rename."
  • Name it "NewNinjaTrader.SDF."
  • Then restart the software.
Let us know if you're still having issues and I'll follow up by email with the next steps.
