Patsystem connection lost causes NT7 hangs on exit

Hello,

using NT7 B22 with 2 connections, IB (primary) and PATS.

After an internet disconnect and reconnect the following happens

1. IB reconnects as expected

2. PATS remains disconnected (this is a design limitation of the Ninja Pats adapter)


3. Unfortunately a bug:

When I want to exit NT7 in such a situation (IB reconnected, PATS disconnected) then NT7 hangs on exit

Are you initiating the disconnection by pulling your network cord?

My tests show that the problem shows up only with more than 1 broker connection.

IB only is OK
PATS only is OK

IB and PATS => then the error shows up

(probably a race condition during shutdown of multiple adapters)

Happened initially sometimes during the week

Just now I checked the behaviour by disconnectingthe ethernet cable from the wall mount.

Sorry - I'm still not totally clear. I should be able to reproduce this behavior by connecting to IB, then to PATSystems, then pulling my PC's ethernet cable and shutting down NinjaTrader, correct?

Still testing,

one question: NTAdapter for Patssystem will stay internally connected for some time according to the On connection losss -> Disconnect delay seconds and Handling settings.
I have Disconnect delay 10 second
restart attempts 4
restart within 5 min
KeepRunning

Doing a short disconnect the problem does not show up.

But there is a time when the PatsSystem adapter gets shutdown to a nonrecoverable state by NT. How long is this for my settings.
After this time it will no longer recover into connected state even if Internet is ok..

The problem seems to show up only when the adapter is in this final state.

P.S. I hava actually 3 connection IB 1 on port 7496 IB 2 on 7497 and Pats

Not that your IB adapter code is the problem?

Usually I have all 3 connections on, so the problem shows up when pats is in unrecoverable disconnected state.

Disconnected ethernet cable for 20 minutes, went running, connected again,

all working, IB 1, IB2 and PATS all connected and green


cannot reproduce nt hang on shutdown any more

OK, I searched my logs, and the problem is correlated to the following error msg in the log:

Connection to NinjaTrader historical market data server lost: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

after such a msg PATS adapter seems to hang NT7 on exit.

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for the additional information.

That connection to the historical data server is lost shouldn't cause the freeze to occur. That said, I'll work to replicate the behavior on my end.
