Default Restoring NT7 backup data saved on 32 bit OS onto 64 bit OS

Hello,

Just need to confirm.

I currently run NT7 with Win XP Pro 32 bit. About to upgrade to Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

If i am not mistaken i can just run the upgrade on my current XP Pro set up and then activate Win 7.

Do i have to uninstall and reinstall NT7 after the upgrade?
Would I be able to restore my NT7 backup which includes real time tick data i always save locally (saved using 32 bit OS) onto NT7 on the new win 7 64 bit platform?

BTW, i read about the win 7 sp1 incompatibility with NT7, so I'll make sure not to install SP1 for the time being.

Thanks

AQ

Hello Acqua,

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately, you cannot do a direct upgrade from XP to Windows 7. Therefore, you will be forced to install NinjaTrader 7 from scratch after the upgrade to Windows 7.

However, you can run a backup on your current NT7 database, templates, indicators, etc. and restore it to your new NT7 load after you have upgraded your OS. Backing up from 32-bit and restoring to 64-bit should not be an issue.

Please review our Help Guide article on the NT7 backup/restore utility:
http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...p__restore.htm

You can check back in the forums for when we release support for SP1.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
