In NT7.0.0.17 I am experiencing very intermittent success loading historical data. I currently use a ritual of exporting tick data in NT6.5 then importing in NT7. All the imported data is visible using NT7 - Historical Data Manager - Edit. I then have the instrument up to date within a minute or two, so when I then open a chart and do a modest 2 or three day look back period for Range (4), it should only have a couple of minutes of tick data to retrieve from your historical server. Instead 9 times out of 10 it just hangs there, only to be freed up again if your historical server rejects the connection or I bounce my ethernet connection.
This is not firewall or anti-virus issue, necessary ip range and applications are exempt, and yes I have tried with them turned off. The only spanner in the works I can think of is my timezone is NZ GMT+12. My system clock is accurate. This isn't a memory issue, only 125MB is used to load the data out of 3GB+ (32bit MS XP SP3 latest .Net and all updates applied) I'm using Zen-Fire with AMP, Mirus or Zen-Fire free to evaluate accounts. Oh and just to prove the pudding tried it on a fresh install of MS W7 on an old Dell Inspiron 9400 2GB memory, with exactly the same result. Paul, thanks for reporting in, could you please direct your logs and trace to our support email via Help > Mail to Support in NinjaTrader. Do you see this only when working with tick based intervals such as Range data or would it be an issue on minute based intervals as well?

Hi Bertrand,
Loading 30 days of 6E minute data was fine. Took about 4minutes. Tick data still as before. I've uploaded some more screenshots on link already given. Will send todays and yesterdays trace files via email as requested. I forgot to mention network bandwidth: I get 8.2 Mb/s download, upload is restricted to 128kb/s, there is no competition for this resource at the time of testing (wireshark) Thanks for looking into this and have a good weekend, Paul. |

I have today had my ISP broadband plan changed from one that capped upload to 0.128Mb/s (I didn't experience higher than 0.08Mb/s) to one that uploads at 1Mb/s (experiencing about 0.8Mb/s), this in one fell swoop has mitigated all the data loading problems. So probably down to ISP issues, with a gentle curiosity as to why high upload speed should be required for historical data download?
Thanks to all NinjaTrader Support for looking into it. |

You're welcome Paul, great to hear this is resolved for you - so your download speed was not affected at all by this change? I would then rather speculate there were other pending network issues at your ISP that coincidentially got resolved so things fell in place.

Hi Bertrand,
No my download speed was unaffected, I was one of the first group of users on a NZ Telecom Broadband Plan rolled out a couple of years ago called "Go Large", then re-branded "Big Time", an uncapped download plan, that was quickly abused by heavy downloaders, and the ISP became more aggressive and inadequate in trying to control how this infrastructure was shared. It's upload speed was truly pitiful in the end. The service was notorious, making national news here: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/n...ectid=10646147 Anyway glad I'm the other side of it. Thanks again for all your help, Cheers, Paul.
