Default migrating templates from 6.5

I've searched for guidance here and not found anything...

I copied a template from my 6.5 chart template area into that of NT7 and got the error in the attached image... what does this mean and how do I remove '1' Data Series?

Where is the concept of '0' Data Series and '1' Data Series explained?

I'd suggest you put a few lines about migrating templates into the critical info area in this forum.

Thanks,
Saroj

Saroj, that means the template currently cannot be imported into NT7. You will have to re-create the template in NT7.

Default great, quick reply, but...

any chance you could get the developers to display a less cryptic message? or do I need to post that in suggestions and feedback...

also any chance there could be a bit in the "Critical Information" post by Ray on migrating templates or saying that ALL templates must be recreated in NT7?

and...

I'd appreciate an answer to my other question re: where to find concept of '1' data series vs '0' data series

Saroj, the recommended way to migrate templates is during the installation of NT7, not by copying the actual template file from folder to folder like you said you did in the first post. NinjaTrader 7's charts are fundamentally different than NT6.5's so that is why migration might not always work correctly.

NinjaTrader 7 charts use different Data Series to show information. NinjaTrader 6.5 did not use explicit data series at all for charting, and that is why there is the 0 vs 1 data series error. It says the chart template requires 0 data series because NT6.5 did not use data series.

The rest of the error I agree is quite cryptic, but the bottom line is you will need to re-create the template to ensure functionality.

ok.. now I'm really confused..

1. in "Critical Information" it says templates are NOT migrated.
2. I DID check "migrate" when I installed NT 7 today

sooooo.... how does one actually accomplish migrating templates during the installation of NT7 as you say is the correct way to do it? BTW... NO TEMPLATES WERE MIGRATED SIMPLE OR OTHERWISE

saroj, in the Critical Information section, it says "Any backup archive or NinjaScript archive created with Beta 14 or later will be incompatible with any prior Beta release." It doesn't say anything about templates being migrated.

As this is still a beta product, it is expected there are still some bugs left. Perhaps this release has trouble importing your templates, and as such you will have to manually create the templates once you get NT7 up and running.
