Hi guys,
First, I have been using NT7 beginning for several months trading the EC with a 220 and 880 chart. You all have done a fabulous job with this software - for what I do, it runs virtually seamlessly. Thanks for all of that great work. My trading organization is VERY interested in the ability to have multiple workspaces open at the same time as our traders trade mutliple markets at the same time. I do not believe NT7 has that capability (multiple workspaces open simultaneously??) at this time. I have searched the forum and have found no threads regarding this question. Am i correct in that NT7 does not have this capability? If I am correct, are there plans for this capability? IF there are no plans, how likely is it that this capability be added to the NinjaTrader platform? Thanks again for all of the work you all have put into this! |

gavignon, it is possible to have as many workspaces "at the ready" as you want. For example, you could have a set of charts you use to trade EC open in one workspace and then have another set of charts used to trade 6E in the other workspace. You can switch back and forth between workspaces by just selecting the one you want.
It is not possible to have two workspaces active at the same time though. For that you could just combine everything necessary into one workspace and use that.

Let me clarify...
You can have open (active) as many workspaces as you wish. Just create a workspace, save it, create a new one, save it. You will see in File > Workspaces, there will be the two workspaces open. You can switch between the two via this file menu or you can press SHFT + F3, to toggle to the next open workspace.

Thanks for your prompt response, Ray. For our purposes (watching as many as six markets at one time) toggling back and forth between markets / workspaces is an unsatisfactory solution - just too cumbersome and distracting as you would imagine. We need all of the charts in front of us all of the time.
Are there plans to equip NT with the capability to view multiple workspaces simultaneously? This is a critical function for those of us who trade multimple markets and need to watch them simultaneously. Thanks! |

Ray,
How about buttons on the top, so we can switch between workspaces faster. What if I have 6 workspaces open and want to get from the 1st to the 4th? i'd have to toggle to the 2nd and 3rd, just to get to the 4th???? This is still quite inefficient. Customized buttons would surly be a great solution here. Quote:

justme,
What is available currently is you to go to File>Workspaces and then you will have a list of all the open workspaces so you can visually see and click the one you want to view. gavignon, Thank you for the suggestion. I have added it to our feedback list.

Josh,
This is cumbersome because usually, the control center window is minimized, and having to access it would always require maximizing it, then leafing through menus to get to the desired workspace... then repeating the process to switch again.... Buttons, for sure, would be quick and efficient. Quote:

justme,
To access buttons you would already have to maximize the Control Center. What is currently available is done through the File menu. I have added your suggestion to our feedback list though.

Here is a solution that currently works pretty good for me....in the Hot Key Manager "Global" section...set up the Next Workspace & Previous Workspace hot keys perhaps as in the screen shot below...easy to quickly scroll back & forth through workspaces this way...
Thanks...

A,
This is the best option, and I have indeed done this and it works well...However, if someone has 5 or 6 or more workspaces, then going from 1 to 4 is not as efficient as simple clicking a button... I hope ninja adds this on the next update.... |

thanks, all, for your suggestions. Like Justme, they are are not satisfactory. Josh, I know you ultimately don't have control over what capability gets built into the software, but you have a sense of how the development team works and what their priorties are. What is the likelihood that this ability to view multiple workspaces simultaneously function will get built in over the next few months? Good? Very good? not good at all? Just trying to get a sense - not going to hold you to anything!
i ask because it will help us do some planning. Thanks! |

gavignon,
Our priorities right now are to stabilize and fix bugs on the features already provided in NT7. After we finish this we will then reevaluate our feedback list and see what we can do at that point in time. Unfortunately I could not give you a time estimate on this. laredo, You should be able to turn off Chart Trader via the Chart Trader button on the toolbar. It should be the button to the right of the magnifying glass icon.
