Default Issue with same instrument spanning multiple brokers.

Re: NT7b10 and NT6.5

Hi all,

The issue is that for some instruments (GC Gold and TF Russel) I can't trade them and then simply switch from one broker to another and continue to trade them again. I need to physically go into the Instrument Manager-> Editor-> Exchanges uncheck NYMEX (assuming I was trading Gold via ZenFire) and check GLOBEX exclusive of NYMEX (if I wanted to now trade Gold via Trading Tech.) re-add the symbol and refresh my screens. I reported this problem back in December for TF but support was not able to resolve it on the spot. The problem was written up and submitted to the Tech. staff for resolution. I now ran into the same situation TODAY with GC. I wanted to know if this is at all considered an issue to be resolved. If so will it be addressed in NT7?

Thanks and regards
Spartacus

Hi Spartacus,

This is a known limitation and there are no immediate plans to change this behaviour at this time. This is on our list however, for future consideration.

PS - The reason we chose not to address this is that it affect a small number of users and thus its priority is lower on the list when compared to other items that have much broader impact.

Spartacus:

I haven't tried this, but as a possible workaround, how about adding a new instrument that connects to the other broker?

I know it's not as nice as having Ninja automatically make this determination, but in the long run it might save you some keystrokes.

Thanks KBJ

I've tried that with the support staff a while back. They were nice enough to spend almost the whole day working with me adding multiple entries of the same instrument into the instrument box but having the different exchanges set in each and testing them, if that's what you meant. But to no avail, because the Instrument Manager always picked the first one you added in and never the 2nd one no matter which one you selected as the instrument. I'll just wait for the change to happen whenever Ninja decides to do it.
