The Abort button in the Control Center does not work during Backtesting. The green progress bar stops when you press the Abort button but the button and progress bar does not disappear. If you try to backtest again, you will find that the "Run Backtest" button is grayed-out. The only way to stop the backtest completely is to close the Strategy Analyser window.
It would be nice to have a Save button so that all the parameters and fields in the Backtest panel can be saved.

Sorry, I don't follow. There is no green progress bar nor an abort button as you backtest. This is intentional, since a backtest can not be aborted.

Well, one of us must be on crack
.Open Strategy Analyzer, right click one of your large instrument list (I use one with 200 Nasdaq stocks), select Backtest, select one of your strategy and use 1/1/2009 - 10/28/2009 as time frame (so that it will take longer than a few seconds), click Run Backtest button. The Strategy Analyzer should have a big empty gray screen with the words "Backtest in process... Please see the Control Center Status Bar for progress update." in the middle of the screen. The progress bar and abort button is in the lower right corner of the Control Center (not Strategy Analyzer). I am using 7.0.0.3 with no data feed connection. |

It always helps if you provided exact and complete information on your reports. I was unable to spot anything related to the fact that you backtested a basket of instruments in your original post. Backtesting a single instrument will not give you the abort button nor a progress bar.
We'll into the issue related to pressing the abort button as you backtest a basket of instruments.
