Default Getting the big picture

Hi,

I am trying to view 10 days worth of 5 min charts.... For me and what i trade the 5 min chart is much easier to follow and allows me to clearly see trend/support/resistance. But, every time i try and see 5 min charts i can only see the last couple of hours without having to scroll back and forth...

Is there a way to get smaller time frames on a bigger scale? ie. In other words i want to zoom out on a 5 min chart and i cant seem to find a way to do that.... I want to see more data on the screen without having to change to a larger time frame or moving to constant volume bars, bc otherwise the price movement is pretty erratic on the larger time frames and makes it more difficult to find direction...

Is there a way that i am not seeing?

Hello karim0028,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader support forum!

For this you will want to adjust the compression ratio of the chart. To do so, left click in the time axis and drag your mouse.

For more information, please see the following link: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...ingAChart.html

Hello karim0028,

Thank you for your reply.

This is possible only through custom programming. If you are not a programmer, any of the NinjaScript consultants listed at the following link could code this project for you: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/pa...injaScript.htm

Is it just me, or do these bars look like they overlap? Am i doing something wrong? They seem to be very hard to read... Why do they look so weird?

Hello karim0028,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, this is one of the consequences of adjusting compression ratios in the chart. Changing the bar width (ALT + down arrow to decrease) should do the trick.

Thanks for the info, i did that.... But, there is still no space between the bars, why would bars overlap anyway? The chart still looks overlapping and hard to read....

Hello karim0028,

Thank you for your reply.

This is due to the compression of the chart. You could reduce the compression level a bit to bring the spacing back, however this will result in less historical data being displayed in the window.
