I like the constant update when not in focus, however, it really hangs NT. At least when running at high speed market replay. So much so, that sometimes I have to force quit. ALL windows become non-responsive. Granted since I'm developing a strategy, I'm spitting out a lot of info. EVery once and a while I just quit the output window and reopen. Thinking that maybe this may clear it's cache or something.

High speed market replay could hang the complete NT app regardless of the output window. This is a known limitation.

Is this still a limitation or should it not happen anymore if CPU/mem are fine?

dave1992, are you running into issues? Computers have come a long ways since May 2007, but if you throw enough data at anything, you'll probably crash it.

So is the answer 'it shouldn't happen if CPU/mem are fine'?

dave1992, all I know is Dierk's answer still stands. As far as I'm aware, NT hasn't has any major changes since this thread was started but Market Replay was re-worked and improved by quite a bit for NT7.
If you run into issues, please let us know.

OK, a slightly different question - when this happens, should I see some clue - a message in the logs, high cpu, or high mem usage? i.e. is there a chance that the problem I refer to in the other thread is just a long term known issue? |
