How to determine the number of trades taken today. (long or short)

Is there a way to determine, in code, the number of trades a strategy has taken on a given day?

My strategy needs to know how many trades have been taken today (both long and short).

Can the trades taken thus far be enumerated and if so, do they contain trade date/time information?
