Is there a way to set this on the chart?

Bernard, thanks for the quick reply but it's not a condition. Some charting software (forex) the current bar open always equals the previous bar close (except going into the weekend) or there is an option for you to select that the current bar open should equal the previous bar close.

Thanks for clarifying - how would this chart type be called? I think the closest would be using our Range bars then...
