I'm testing out Ninjatrader with the TWS Demo account. I can get a chart running with real time data, but I can't get the chart to load any historical data.
For example, It is 4/18/09 11:00 right now. I want a chart from 4/13/09 to now. When I plot the chart, the chart plots from the current time, but it doesn't download any historical data. If I right click on the chart, the "Reload Historical Data" option is greyed out. Can someone please help? Thanks. |

Hi whitebelt - welcome to the NinjaTrader support forums! This is expected for the IB demo account, as you can see on this grid listing all the historical data options - http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...ricalData.html

okay i see it now. the IB chart in IB's demo account will load load historical data, so i thought historical data would be available.
are there any dangers if i connect the trial version of ninjatrader to my real ib account? is there any chance at all that the trial version of ninjatrader will send an order? |

If you want to connect your live IB account safely, the best option is the IB Paper trading account. However you can also just make sure NinjaTrader is in 'Global Simulation Mode' (set under the File menu in the Control Center, this makes any live acccount inaccessible).

my "Global Simulation Mode" is greyed out, but it looks like it's checked.

Yes, this is always checked if you're on the free simulation edition.

i am having the same problem with the paper trading account. the chart doesn't grab the historical data. only real time data. any suggstions? when i right click on the chart, the "Reload Historical Data" selection is greyed out.

Sorry whitebelt, should have been more clear - for historical data you would need to connect to a IB live account > http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...ricalData.html
