Question Broker data feed + additional data feed

Guys one question.
I have already pats data feed with my broker account, but i don't like its 1 hour downtime everyday and that you can't retrieve any historical data (nor daily etc).

If i subscribe to an additional data feed supported by NT, how do i choose which charts are using and is being stored in DB database?

If my additional feed has only delayed quotes and daily weekly etc data, do i get a mess or NT retrieves from my additional feed only what is missing for indicators and/or charting?
Because i would need to connect to both....

Thx

Hi,

Who would you like to select as your second datafeed provider? Keep in mind that whomever you connect to first will be your main datafeed provider. So if you connect to a different futures datafeed provider than Pats first, you will look at this data and when you submit an order in your Pats broker account it will be routed to this.

I was thinking about IQFeed or eSignal feeds for historical data.

If i want a strategy that uses DAY OHLC, i can add another feed to retrieve historical data.

Example:
1) If i am live connected to my broker first
2) and then connect to iqfeed
3) and switch future to a new one (no data in the DB)
4) start a strategy that requires DAY data (or i want day data on my charts)

----> does NT retrieves the needed historical data from IQFeed while keeping live data flowing?

Thx

Hi,

For historical data you need a second provider. However you need to connect to this first and second to your broker account. It will pull the historical data first. Don't connect the other way around.

Ok, first historical data feed and then my broker connection.
Live price will be displayed right?
What about data stored in the NT DB? Real time data from my broker will be stored as usual?

Thx!

data from your main datafeed provider will be stored.

What is it you're trying to accomplish?

I need to store real time data of my broker for trading, AND retrieve historical DAY data when needed by indicators, strategy and charts.
Is it possible?

I'm not sure if your understanding, but when you're connected to for example eSignal, you will look at their data for trading and at the same time it will be stored for historical data as we restore real time data.

You are not looking at your brokers data at all when you're trading, your looking at the data from the data provider you connected to first. When you submit an order it will be routed to your Live account.

sorry, i'll put the request in another form as i did not explained myself properly :

I want a strategy that works real time intraday with live data AND
with daily and monthly data to find the main TREND.

Pats does not give historical data, but i do not want to pay for another real time data feed as i have already one (that disconnects every 23 hours so it's unreliable).
So i want another feed for historical data ONLY.
Can a strategy access daily historical data from a secondary provider and ALSO live data from my broker AT THE SAME TIME?
Or do i have to export in some way historical data on file to use them?

thx again!

I see what you mean now.

Yes, you would need to import the historical data.

Please take a look here for more info on this:

So you are suggesting to buy historical data on file and import them, not to buy another historical data feed?

Hi,

I apologize, but got thrown off when you mentioned Pats didn't provide historical data, but they do. Only Daily data. This means you can use Pats data solely and don't need a second provider. Please see here:
