Even though I have equity margin set at 4 whenever I try to buy over the cash amount I get the message that order has exceeded buying power . Buy power under accounts tab does not exceed cash value when flat .

Equity margin does not affect NT. Equity buying power is set to the exact cash value of the account. Margin values are only required for futures.

did I misunderstand you to say during a recent class that you can have margin in the simulater for stocks . For example 25000 cash value can buy 100000 in stock at a time for the day ?
