Default Ninja crash on chart loading

Hi Support,

I experienced Ninja Crash, when I was doing a formatdataseries on a chart, and when Ninja was loading the chart,it crashed. I was loading the ES chart for 9 days of data, was just changing the last date from 10/2/08 to a different date.

This was the only one chart I had opened. I am on Ninja 6.5.1000.5 and do not have any 3rd party indicators. I have attached the part of trace file, which shows the error messages.

Thanks
RK

Please upgrade to the current release and see if the issue persists.

Jessica,

Can you please tell me why Ninja was crashing? Is this a ninja bug that has been identified and fixed in the recent release ?

Would appreciate, if you can fix this bug, if it has not been fixed yet. The last thing someone wants is to see their charting system crash, while trading.

Thanks
RK

No, it does not seem to be linked to a bug but instead the install.

When you upgrade I would also suggest repairing your database (Tools--> Options--> Misc--> Repair).

The upgrade will also help as a fresh install will repair any issues with your install.

If the repair and upgrade do not resolve the issue please let us know as we may need to send you further instructions for your database.

Hi Jessica,

Thanks for your reply.

I am a little hesitant to upgrade ninja version, as I want to wait for some time, till the latest version becomes stable and as you mentioned nothing has changed in the new version regarding this bug.

I did a DB repair in the current version and tried the reload of chart, and it is working fine. Please let me if its ok, or any additional action I need to take.

Also it would be helpful, if the error handling of Ninja can be improved, so that it throws a message box (or a pop up) with error when it encounters a problem, rather than crashing the ninja chart system.

Thanks
RK

Again the error is specific to your install not a bug, and it is always recommended to be on the current release, but if you do not want to upgrade that is your choice.

Thanks for the suggestion and if you have any further issues please send me your full trace file by email to support AT ninjatrader DOT com attn Jessica.

Exclamation do not upgrade RK!!!!

NT has been a nightmare since I upgraded including the problems you describe RK.
3 weeks later I am still on the sidelines cuz ninja is hosed after many, many reinstalls and all the supposed fixes. No one seems to be able to help ecept Jessica who knew about a google desktop issue. I am trying to stick with the devil I know instead of starting up a whole new charting platform but I think at this point it would bre worth investing a week or so ironing out the kinks of a new platform. And I have been a ninja subscriber for around a year. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Hi Taters,

I'm sorry to hear this is taking longer than usual.

We will get to the bottom of this and have a final answer for you over the weekend.
