    Kinetic & Continuum

    Hi,

I am signed up to Continuum's data feed, and also have Kinetic EOD.
    They are both 'connected'.
I recall previously being told I should be connected to both.
I am keen to see whether you still recommend this ?

Shouldnt I simply just use one feed ?

    Thanks

Hello akvevo, thank you for your post.

The Kinetick EOD connection provides historical data for daily interval and greater for all supported asset classes. The daily data from Kinetick's servers go back as far as 10 years.

The Continuum connection (CQG-based) also provides historical daily data and greater for only futures and indexes which goes back as far as 2009. We provide this data from our servers. The Continuum connection also supports minute and tick data.

The differences would be that Kinetick EOD provides slightly more historical data and that it supports other asset classes such as stocks, and forex currencies.

However, if you only view Futures and/or Indexes and you don't need as much daily historical data, then you may consider not connecting to the Kinetick EOD connection.

In addition, the Continuum connection is a broker-based connection, so if you disconnect from Continuum, then this would prevent you from trading your live account.

Please let me know if any questions come up.

      Thanks Riley,

I turned of NT off and back on.
This time I ensured to only connect to Continuum.

Can you think of a reason why my indicators no longer appear in my indicator panels ?

Hello Akvevo, thank you for your post back.

So that I may investigate this further, please answer the following questions.

What version of NinjaTrader are you using? This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.0.9.0)

Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

I look forward to being of further assistance.

          Thanks Riley,

          I am using 8.0.9.0 64-bit (Standard).
For the last few months, ive been using:

          - Kinetic (connect on startup)
          - Continuum (i manually connect when once my workspace has loaded)

I dont think there is a need for this setup, so i want to migrate to a single data connection: continuum: for historical and intraday.
So iam doing is turning on on my NT and connecting to continuum data only
and indicators dont appear in my chart, and if i open a brand new chart, there is no data ..
My "Historical data" is full however... as ive been pulling data all this time.
          I see no errors

Do I need to wipe my data if I want to migrate to Continuum only ?

To ensure you do not have any corrupt data stored please use the steps I have provided below to delete your historical data:
            • Close NinjaTrader
            • Documents
            • NinjaTrader 8
            • Open the db folder
            • Delete the cache, day, minute and tick folders
            • Restart NinjaTrader

Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

Thanks, just to be clear, this will delete all my data stored on my computer right ?
So everytime I load a chart, my NT will need to re-call a full data series - is that correct?

Correct this will delete all the historical data currently stored on your PC and once connected a new data request will be made from the historical data server to replace the required data.
