Using hotkeys to partially close a position

Hi,
I want to be able to partially close a current position. For example say I want to close out 1/2 the position.
How can I do this?

Hello iq,

In the trade window, set the quantity to half of the size of the position. Then place a market order in the opposite direction of your position (if you are long 6, set the quantity to 3 and place a sell market order)

With hotkeys, these are preset to a specific quantity. You could theoretically make one for each quantity you would like to preset.

Thanks for your reply. I understand how to do it from the trade window.
When defining hotkeys however, I couldn't see how to define the quantity. Is the hotkey quantity linked to the order quantity in the order quantity in the trade entry? A bit confused.

One other problem/bug is that if I have the Chart Trader panel up and the Basic Entry window open, if I set/increment the Quantity in Basic Entry to an amount I would expect the Quantity to be reflected in the the Chart Trader and other order entry window types else there could be confusion.

I apologize for the confusion, The quantity does need to be set manually in the trade window yes, and you are correct the quantity cannot be set in the hot key. The hot key it self will be sent to the active window (meaning windows that are not trade windows will not activate orders when hot keys are pressed).

So set the quantity to half of the position, then trigger the hot key.

Windows are not linked by quantity.

It is possible to use the window linking to link both or either the instrument and interval, but it is not possible to link the quantity.

The initial entry quantity can be saved with an Atm Strategy template.
