Migrating NT7 files from one PC to another

Hello,
I am about to install NT7 on a new PC. Needless to say that I would like to have my charts including all indicators same way as they were on my previous PC.

What kind of migration tools does NT7 offer in order to get same charts mirrored to a new installation?

Worst way would be installing NT7 on a new PC, importing all indicators and then get all charts manually adjusted as wanted.

Does the NT7 Restore function helps in this way?

Is there a migration guide anywhere on NT web sites?

Hello Trader108,

You can transfer your settings and data from the old computer to the new computer using a backup file.

Please create a backup file as per the instructions at the link below on the old computer.

Once NinjaTrader created a backup file, it is located at (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader Backup as .ntbk file.

Copy this file to the new computer at the exact same location - (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader Backup.

Start NinjaTrader and restore your backup file.

Does this mean that all imported indicators will be restored as well?

I had an experience some time ago that indicators have to be imported manually. Restore function didn't work for indicators. Maybe that this is working now.

Yes, as long as you enable 'NinjaScript files' when creating the backup file, it will include indicators.

The backup file should have restored your NinjaScript files as well. Did you perhaps experience an error when you restored the backup file?

What type of indicators did not transfer - 3rd party, custom created, etc?

I suggest to export and import the indicators from the old to the new computer to transfer them. You can find instructions at the links below.

Hi,
none of previously imported files (indicators) were imported. Yes, I got a message that files
couldn't be restored .. or so.

But I haven't had the time for investigation. I have imported them manually again.
