Unable to connect to database error

Hi,

Ninja would not start today showing "unable to connect to database 'Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 etc...

Please let me know what I can do, everything was working fine for last couple of months until today.

You DB file appears to be corrupted. Please try deleting the database file <my documents>/NinjaTradre6.5/db/NinjaTrader.mdb.

Note: You will loose al your historical trade and chart data.

Never mind, it is working this morning. Crazy computers. Unfortunately I have troubles importing my old workspaces and strategies. Workspaces open but the chart settings are wrong. Where are strategies stored?

ATM strategies, I can design them again, not a big deal, I am not sure if I have backed it up.

Ninjatrader db access error

I just installed the NinjaTrader Version 6.5.1000.14, when launching the Ninjatrader, it pop up a message box showing the error accessing the accesss database due to the MS JET version is not 6.0.

But when i try to run the MDAC Type 2.6 and 2.7 installation, it ran through smoothly but doesn't solve the issue.

If i to run the windowsxp-kb829558-x86-enu.exe downloaded from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114/, it gives me a message box saying that i've JET even newer and not necessary to update.

I checked my msjet40.dll the version is 4.0.9511.0 Windows XP SP3 and Security Bulletin MS08-028. When i run microsoft component checker, it said i use mdac 2.8 SP1 on WinXP SP3. (see attached image)

I also have tried to uninstalled Ninjatrader and install with Version 6.5.1000.13, but facing the same problem.

I'm using the .NET Framework 3.5 on Win XP Home.

I emailed to NinjaTrader support and eventually what i got is to restore until my WinXP can work with NinjaTrader, there's no better than asking me to format my whole machine to work with the platform.

It seems that there's some problem with the JET Engine? It's really give me a headache. Does any experts here know the solution to the problem and many thanks in advance.

Hello Derek,

I am not sure if you tried renaming the current database already. If not, please try it. While NinjaTrader is closed please go to (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 6.5-->db.

Rename the NinjaTrader.mdb file different.

Start NinjaTrader and check if the error persists when a brand new database will be used.

Do you perhaps have another PC you can install NinjaTrader?

Eventually it's confirmed that the issue is due to the MDAC file corrupted, a repair to the MDAC is necessary and i've recorded this steps on my blog below.
