Best Hardware and Operating System

Hello,

Please share your experience with hardware and operating systems for Ninja 6.5. I run multiple windows or strategies and may have 2-3 open trades with ATMs, and multiple pending positions with ATMs. I notice that sometimes NT 6.5 gets confused about active trades and moving stops, or reporting the correct entry position on a chart. I am guessing that it is caused by burstable demand that I'm not noticing in the Task Manager.

Does it matter if the CPU is dual core or better? I believe NT 6.5 can only use one CPU, but perhaps the OS can if it is 64 bit and offload some of the OS tasks to the second CPU?

What is the best Windows OS....should I stay with XP 32bit or go to a 64 bit OS?

Is there a 64bit XP? Is it any good?

Vista? Windows 7?

And, finally.....what are the expectations for 7.0 to run the fastest? And, does anyone know when it will be stable enough to use?

Thank you for your post.

Most of your questions are better answered by our users as their experiences with NinjaTrader will be related directly to their trading necessities.

As for the last question regarding our expectations with NinjaTrader we will support 64 operating systems. Windows 7 should work, and will be supported once we finish internal testing. The speed tests we have run comparing version 6.5 to version 7 have shown an incredible improvement in terms of PC resource allocation, but as for specifics in that regard I can not say. Perhaps some beta testers can offer their insights.

As for the stability of NinjaTrader 7 we have not seen anything unusual during beta testing, and when released we will be confident that it meets the demands of its purpose.

These tests were done on both 32 bit and 64 operating systems, and multi-core processors for 64 bit operating systems.
