    Trade Markers on Chart Suggestion

Chart entry and exit arrows currently placed within the bars clutter things a bit and are hard to read.

What about something like this....place arrows above and below the chart...different user selectable colors (four colors ...2 for longs 2 for shorts) for long and short entry's and exits. There would also be a short color coded line from the arrow to the particular entry or exit bar to keep the arrows more outside the chart but for easy reference to a particular bar.

Additional text info (actual entry prices etc) placed adjacent to the top or bottom of the arrow lines would also then tend be more outside the chart bars for better readability if one elected to show that info too. There still could be a colored dot at the trade point within the chart as you have it now.

    Thanks....

      An additional note...

Trade markers placed at chart extremities could be shown like this perhaps...

        A few more additional ideas....

Here are some revised ideas on graphic order entry signal designs on a chart....designed in such a manner that there will be no graphic overlap between these objects and the chart bars.....in order to achieve maximum visual clarity on the chart.

When the flag marker is placed in the left side of the bar marker line....that insures there will be no graphic overlap
of future chart bars, however they may develop, with the new marker. Code could evaluate which end of the active bar to place the new marker to ensure there would be no graphic overlap of a flag with existing bars as a new marker is placed. Similarly, code could adjust the vertical placement and line marker length of a new marker when close to an existing marker to ensure that no graphic overlap occurs. (see attached chart for examples)..... Also...a new marker placed by code above the active bar would move up automatically as new highs on that bar may occur, and if placed by code on the low of the active bar it would move down automatically as new lows may be made.

Colors, size, width and length of all elements of the four basic markers....Buy Entry, Buy Exit, Sell Entry and Sell Exit would all be user selectable. Perhaps there could be several optional flag shapes to choose from.

Fill size could be noted above or below flags, along with other text options. The actual price fill level on a bar could be shown as it is currently is in NT. All optional text info would remain as much as possible outside the chart bars when placed above or below flag markers.

        Thanks....

            Another possible additional option

Possibly add small trianglar color coded flags to buy & sell exits to denote if a trade was profitable or not...??

                A few more ideas....

Playing with these trade chart marker ideas a bit more...I currently tend to prefer the small triangular flag markers. The bar marker initial lenghth could be user selectable. Filled contracts plus profit or loss in ticks (or currency) could be shown as a color coded text option above or below flags. Bar marker lengths could be extended as necessary automatically by code where graphic overlap of a flag marker with previous bars may otherwise occur.

                Thanks....

                  Latest tune up....

The latest iteration of chart trade marker suggestions ...

The attached chart & graphics will display best in a large enough browser window that is slightly wider than the screen-shot...scrunched graphics do not look good...

                  Thanks...Alfred

                    Add my weight

                    This is great stuff Alfred.
Clearly you actually trade for real - so clear and yet informative without being cluttered.
                    +1.

                      Trade markers on charts

Hi....Is NT8 going to revise trade markers on charts...??...
something simple and elegant....maybe along the lines of the screenshot.

And the existing chart markers could use some work too...

While I don't see anything listed in the NinjaTrader 8 Major Enhancements PDF, I will submit your vote (and your screenshot) to the development team for consideration.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

The existing trade markers and chart markers are just amateur hour...
and have been for 10 years...

Are you going to let these problems be solved by a Ninja partner....??

                            Hello Alfred,

                            Thanks for your reply.

Your feedback is being taken into consideration.
How these plot comes down to a preference. Development and the owners of NinjaTrader will decide what and how to implement it. Should you or someone else decide to create a custom script to function in a different way that can be done.
