    Instrument.MasterInstrument.Name returning null

    I am trying to write an indicator and am currently using simulated data. Why does Instrument.MasterInstrument.Name return null in the Initialize() method. I need the name of the symbol to create a unique id for storing data in my custom DLL.This needs to be initialized first before any computation can occur. Thanks for your answer.

    Jim, Initialize() does just that-it initializes the instrument and variables and everything else needed to run.

    To calculate something just once at the beginning, but not in Initialize():
    Code:
    protected override void OnBarUpdate()
    {
        if (CurrentBar == 0)
            doSomethingOnce();
    }
