Do unused indicators cause increase memory usage?

    Hey,

I am wondering if indicators that are not being used are still using memory? I know it sounds like the obvious answer is no but I am trying to figure out why the memory usage under the processes is so high. I do not run many charts, maybe 5 or 6. Just 1 symbol (ES) and 1 DOM.

    Thanks for the help, Tom

Indicators that are not applied will not use any memory.

Please check if you are running workspaces in the background (these will request data & resources as well) and close them. Please go to File-->Workspaces and close all workspaces listed below "Save Workspace As" except the Default workspace. Select the workspace and go to File-->Workspaces-->Close Workspace.

Let me ask another question. How much memory should be shown in processes when having no charts and only 1 ES DOM open?

      Thanks, Tom

        Not a lot at all.

          Hi Vincent,

Thanks for replying. I had about 88,000K of mem usage with only 1 DOM open. After hours it dropped to about 40,000K. This seems very high to me. At times I have seen it climb to 180,000K.

          Thanks, Tom

            Hello,

Within the performance link Vince posted, you will see something about removing "background" workspaces. Did you check that?

Did you try going to File>workspaces then look at the workspaces listed at the bottom of this list (that includes Default). Try closing all of them and retest it. If you haven't arlready.

            Just an idea.

Hi, I did try that. It won't let me close the default though.

              Thanks, Tom

                Hello,

The memory usage you are expericencing is very normal. For example Outlook uses 50 to 100 and a web browser uses 100 to 150. I suggest getting more memory.
