Default Data Feeds and Order Server Question

Potential new Ninjatrader user (long time Neoticker user) question:
Are order server apis completely independent of data feed servers. For instance, i understand PGFBest. Patsystems or MB Trading provides it's own data feed and can also accept orders. In that case can configure Ninjatrader to use a datafeed only server such as esignal and still send orders to PGGBest or MB trading or a broker that used patsystems api?

If they are not completely independent can you point be to some information page that outlines what works with what?

Do you allow connections to multiple brokers from a single license?

Thanks much!

Kel108,

Thanks for your note, and welcome to the forum!

There are two types of licenses. The first is a single-broker license which would only allow access to one broker. The second is a multi-broker license which allows you to connect to as many brokers as you want.

You can connect to as many data providers as you want, but many data providers are linked to a brokerage so it wouldn't allow the connection using a single broker license. However, you could connect to your broker and Kinetick for example, since Kinetick is a data feed only. Generally, the connection API used also routes your orders.

Here is our help guide entry on multiple connections which shows an example : http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...onnections.htm

You can download and try the platform out using simulated trading at the link here : http://www.ninjatrader.com/download-registration.php

It is free for your use as long as you want to demo it. You just need a data provider setup to get real-time quotes, however free Kinetick End-of-day data is included.

Please let me know if I may assist further.
