Default Excess RAM useage

I open Ninja today and it is using 600mb of ram with no workspaces with charts open. It normally uses a fraction of this. I restarted my computer but no change. What can I try to help?

Hello cptrader,

This could be due to to a large log file. NT loads the contents of your log file at startup. See if this file is excessively high, and you can manually delete.

Documents\NinjaTrader\log\log.20110714.txt

Excellent that has done the trick. Looking over past post I did try and fix the problem by going to the db folder and changoing the NinjaTrader.sdf file to OLD which created a new folder on opening Ninja. Can you tell me what this has done?

Hello cptrader,

Glad to hear that did the trick for you.

Renaming the NinjaTrader database would cause NinjaTrader to create a new database on start up. This new database would be smaller than the original as order or execution history, ATM settings or and the like would have been cleared.

This would have had a larger effect in the previous NinjaTrader 6.5 release where more information was held in the database - in NinjaTrader 7, the effect on performance would not be as great.
