Windows 7 NT7 RC 1
I had build 19 before wanted to install Renko script but some problem - anyway I decided to install new version NT I have NT6.5 on system I cannot remove NinjaScript Assemblies as it says there are programming errors. I used uninstll to remove NT7 - I searched registry and removed all references to NT7 I removed all files in Programs and Users various folders that related to NT7 I want to totally get rid of NT7 - TOTALLY - every trace As when I install NT7 again it always finds these old scripts with pointers to non existent folders - I DO NOT WANT IT to USE Those scripts Do I have to uninstall 6.5 as well - will that do it - shame to do that as 6.5 is fine ------------------------- I have a program that can make a portable version out of most programs but it is a bit of a pain - you run it and it copies your drive I guess then you install the program like NT7 - then this program studies the changes and compiles a new installer. You then remove the install and have a installer that installs all in one main folder and subfolders and no use of Windows USER files etc. Suggest that the NT programmers just make a portable version of the program as it solves the problem of windows registry and other directories. http://portableapps.com/ |

Hello webber,
Thank you for the suggestion and pointing out that utility. Removing from uninstall in the control panel and then manually deleting My Documents\NinjaTrader 7 should be all you need to remove the program and custom items. When you install 7 for the first time, you are prompted for migration from 6.5 and this process may be why you're not seeing a complete uninstall. You can choose not to migrate from 6.5.

I am not being asked any longer whether to migrate from 6.5 or not and I renamed my 6.5 program directory so at least it could nto look there - but I understand the past scrips must be somewhere else.
making it portable using the creator at http://portableapps.com/node/9909/ The instalation worked fine and the program runs but l import the old scripts - so if I run Edit NinjaScrips then select on then use F5 it shows the error as it is looking for Core.dll and WilsonorMapper.dll in my former install directory that no longer exists. I just want to do a clean install then add scrips later as I can do nothing as it sees script errors yet I cannot Remove NinjaScrips Assemblies I guess I will have to uninstall NT 6.5 also then all traces of anything mentioning Ninja in my registry. Windows 7 make it a bit harder as they no longer use Documents and Setting bur various User file structures and scatter things around - However that may be the only option is to trey to get rid of all Ninja and then start all over. ------------------------------- I have used only Portable versions of Firefox and SeaMonkey and Google Chrome and others and it very nice to have nothing connected to the Windows registry and be able to use notebook or PC with same folder and if you want a backup only need to back up a folder |

Windows 7 - ok I was able after many tied to install NT7 RC1 I tired also to do it as a portable but it was not complete successful but it did install.
What I did was do is again go to control panel in Windows and uninstall again any Ninja - then I did a file search for the word Ninja and deleted any folder or file with it in the name. Then I oped the registry and did a Ninja search and deleted all - so in under an hour all was finally gone. You see each time I had treid to install it it would find an invalid location for some scripts left over from the uninstalled 6.5. After all this effort the purpose was to install the RenkoBarsType.zip as it says it only works on NT7 well when I try to install I get only - Import failed as noted on the image So I have no idea how to resolve this Guess Renko should be included in the usual build. I have used it for GDX as a mechanical trade for over 3 years it is typically does more the 100% in gains a year- and no thinking required And for short term trading of indexes it can't be beat So if anyone has been able to get Renko working in RC1 please let us know thanks a lot |

Hello webber,
Renko charts are available in NinjaTrader without having to install an additional file. Right click on your chart > Data Series > Set type > Renko

Thanks - that would have saved a couple of days work - I found many posts but all talked of script and search on help in charts shows Renko but I did not see about accessing them - you woudl think naturally they woudl be under Bar Style on the charts - not under price setting in the data series. Guess they stil ahve to change that
So far I cannot figure out how to change to daily Renko or 60 minute of 5-min like in my examples below - they only show up if I make the bar a 1 bar they show 1 min intervals and that is not very good. Becuase they have them show up in data series chart type instead of Bar style it relaly messses wtih teh MACD RSI etc. You can see on my charts below that being able to change the box is very useful ad to use it for mechanical trading woulld be super. The ones shown you can change a wide range of how each brick (box) behaves by setting Pts or ATR. Maybe in Future NT can have this ability - unless they do and I have not found it. The manual is not vbery clear on this or P&P etc. There are still those scripts and maybe they work but as mentioned below a problem installing - and one I found today from a post directing to Mikes blog or something - is for NT 6.5 - ha - I do have a copy of that on another machine so wilt try to see if it conflicts like the message below as I do not know how to solve that Thanks a lot for any help. |

webber, the NinjaTrader implementation of Renko bars is based solely off price, so I'm not sure how those 10 minute renko bars were built. You specify the amount of price necessary for a new box to be created, and then all of the bars are constructed around this price change - time is not involved for this process. You should also be able to run RSI/MACD on these bars without an issue, as depicted in the included screenshot.

Thanks - I have not found a thread for only Renko and if I do not find one will make one as I know some have tried to make a better working Renko. I did briefly try the script SBS renko but still did not find a way to have it work in multiple timeframes. It should work in all.
The chart you posted did not have the character of Renko in the a min feature is to greatly cut down on noise to present pretty clean trade signals. The attached is the Euro index as stockcharts does not have futures - it is ATR 14 and I have a 8-period EMA on it. Anyway you see ther ewer only a couple of whipsaws but gave good trades Thursday and Friday. If some people can figure a away to have NT do this it would be great. We use them for Many ETFs and some futures but have to use the index as the trigger.
