Default Save & Restore a Chart?

Hi N.T. Support,

I can't figure out how to save and restore a chart on NT 6.5.
Here's what I'm doing:
I go to - Open a chart - select audusd15min - Open File on the control centre - Workspaces - Save Workspace as - audusd15 - OK.

I then close the chart.

Then I go to File - Workspaces - Open Workspace - highlight audusd15 - OK .

The top left hand corner of the conrol centre says audusd15 but the contol centre stays blank (gray) and I can't find the audusd15min chart.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks and Regards from Peter.

Hello Peter,

Unfortunately, the steps you describe will not bring up the saved chart.

After you closed the chart, please close the workspace as well via Control Center-->File-->Workspaces-->Close Workspace. Please click No when prompted to save your workspace - it would save your workspace without the chart.

Subsequently open the workspace via Control Center-->File-->Workspace-->Open Workspace and the chart should appear. Let me know if this will not work for you.

Hi Jason,

I'm still missing something.

I open a new chart, say 1min. GBPUSD,
I then close the chart, go to Control Centre, File, Workspaces, Close Workspace,
When I click on Close Workspace I get an error message saying "cannot close Default Workspace"

When I click on 'open new chart' a data series box appears, at the bottom of the box it says Chart Template and gives me 2 options, either Default or <None>.
It doesn't matter which one I chose when I click on Close Workspace I get the "cannot close Default Workspace" error message.

Your assistance appreciated

Regards from Peter.

Hello Peter,

Yes, you cannot close the Default workspace in NinjaTrader 6.5. Unfortunately this is as expected.

In order to save a chart, please perform the following steps.
  • Create a new chart via Control Center-->File-->New-->Chart.
  • Please go to Control Center-->File-->Workspaces-->Save Workspace As.
  • Name your workspace and click OK.
  • Close the workspace you just created.
  • Restart NinjaTrader.
  • Open the workspace you created via Control Center-->File-->Workspaces-->Open Workspace.
The chart you saved should now appear. Let me know if this will not work for you.
