Default NinjaTrader 6.5 fails to open, error message

Hello everyone,

Whenever I try to open Ninjatrader 6.5, I get an error message. When ninjatrader is loading, it says that it is updating instrument ZMH, then it suddenly stops and an error message appears. I have attached a screenshot of the error message.

Thank you,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your post, and welcome to the forum.

Can you please send an email to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and include in the email the log and trace files. We will use those diagnostic files to review the cause of the message in the screenshot.

Trace files will be located by going to My Documents->NinjaTrader 6.5->Trace-> trace.2010xxxx.txt
Log files will be located by going to My Documents->NinjaTrader 6.5->Log->log.2010xxxx.txt

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that information. I have responded but what I asked you to do is rename the database based on the lines in the trace file.

To rename the DB:
  • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
  • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> DB--> NinjaTrader.MDB.
  • Right click on NinjaTrader.MDB and select "Rename."
  • Name it "NewNinjaTrader.MDB."
  • Then restart the software.

Hello Ryan,

Ninjatrader is working, I appreciate your help. As ninjatrader is loading, an error message pops up, the message is about historical data. I have an attachment as a screenshot.

Thank you,
Chris

Hi Chris,

This message occurs when NinjaTrader requests more historical data than IB is willing to fill. You will want to request less data from IB as part of your workspace so that you do not reach that limitation imposed by IB.

Hello Ryan,

How do I reduce the historical data? What do I need to do?

Thank you,
Chris

Hi Chris,

There are a couple of ways:

1. You will want to reduce the number of symbols listed in a Market Analyzer window if that is something you have open.

2. Close charts that you have open when connecting.

3. Setup your workspace so that it requests historical data for no more than 10 symbols at a time.

You do not need to limit how much historical data you request, necessarily, but reduce the number of requests made at one time.

Also, refer to the following link for times when NinjaTrader requests data:
