There appears to be a disparity in volume figures between the SplitVOL indicator and the VOL indicators.

For example at 8.30 on the Euro today, on the 80point jump, my splitvol said 259K trades, but the VOL said 5400. If you put the two indicators up together, you can see the totals are out by a factor of 10-15x.

VOLColoured and VOL seem to be in agreement, so it appears SplitVOL is way off the mark...

whats going on?

Volume traded at the same price as the prior tick is not included.

OK, you got me here...which indicator are you referring to? The VOL?

And surely all lots traded should be recorded as volume, rather than just volume of trades at different price...otherwise whats the point of a "volume" indicator?

Split volume indicator plots volume traded when the last price is greater than the prior last price or; when the last price is lessthan the prior last price. If the lastprice = prior last price, it is not recorded.

This indicator is not an official system indicator and its accuracy or implementation is not guaranteed. It was provided as a sample custom indicator.

OK, understood. So if its only recording a portion of volume traded, how come it is registering 10-15 times more than the simple VOL indicator, or the VOLColoured? One would think the inverse would be true.
