Hi,
It may sound stupid, but I just thought to give it a try in NT-Forum. I use NT to trade ES Contract. I was just checking on the website and NT-Forum for symbols NYSE $TICK and $TRIn so as to enhance my back-up info base. It was very sad that OpenTick website is not responding at the moment. So I tried with eSignal who asked me monthly fee of around $ 85.00 for these 2 symbols as I will need Data Manager to manage these datafeed on NT. I also checked with BarChart and was given a price of $ 55.00 as the base package with 100 symbols access. I am sure that i will only be needing the above 2 symbols alone and no offer can match OpenTick's $2.00 offer which is unfortunately not working for new subscriber at the moment. I may not be looking for something that can be compared to OpenTick of course however $ 55.00 for 2 symbols alone sounds a bit extra on my monthly trading overheads. If someone of you fellow traders have come across or are using some other and less expensive data provider for NYSE $TICK and $TRIN, I would appreciate a referral. Thanks for your kind consideration.
Best regards,

Hello, you might consider using "Live Charts" -a cheap java based software/feed from Esignal (Live Charts used to be part of Qcharts now owned by Esignal). It cost $19.95/month plus exchange fees. You can get TICK, TRIN, ADD, as well as other indices. Regards

Hello,
Thank you for your note.
BarChart is my recommendation. Here is a link to their pricing and signup page:

Barchart.com is currently not a good choice for anyone needing $TICK or $TRIN data.
Their NYSE TICK data is incorrect - they have altered the scaling so as to remove all negative values. TRIN data has also been altered.
The following is a link to $TICK quotes on the barchart.com web page:
http://quote.barchart.com/quote.asp?sym=$TICK&code=BSTK
As you can see, Friday August 1st shows a high of 109.79 and a low of 89.44 for the entire day!!
I communicated with someone at barchart.com on Friday. They are aware that the data is wrong, but as far as I can tell have no plans to fix it. Also, please see the following link here on the NT board - it is an ongoing discussion of the problem:
http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/vb/showthread.php?t=9165
Hope this helps with your decision.

Hi,
Did Barchart fix their tick feed? I just moved to NT and ZEN from Tradestation. And have Esignal feed. Esignal $tick updates very 5 or 6 seconds, while TS updates every second or so. Esignal and TS often shows totally different $tick values. For example TS shows +500 and esignal shows -300 at the same time. Looking at the price action it feels like TS $tick is much more accurate.
But keeping TS account open just for $tick is too expensive. So I am looking for any feedback about barchart.com or any other provider.
Thanks

I'm looking for a provider for just Nyse $tick, $trin and ADD. I see from these threads that you can end up paying a lot, like $85 or $55, for more than you need. Is OPen Tick, which seems to be the cheapest, still cheap? Reliable? What about eSignal and Live Charts for $20/month?
I pay for NT services so I'm disappointed these indicator feeds aren't included.

SoleilTrader, welcome to our forums - I think OpenTick does not exist anymore unfortunately. Hopefully fellow community members step in recommendations.

I am debating between using Live Charts for $TRIN, $TICK, $NYAD @ $20/mo rather than paying for a feed at $50/mo or higher from Bar Charts. Is this foolish? Do I need a feed directly into NT?

You will need to use one of the NinjaTrader supported data providers to use NinjaTrader charts.

I still have a small Tradestation account so I can use some of the features I like that Ninja doesn't have, and I try to make a few trades a month there so I get the platform and data for free. I like TS's market internals data like tick/trin/ad, etc. Also it has some other features I like, but I prefer NT's charting and strategy development platform (I'm a C# developer) and execution.
If you're worried that $20/mo might be too much for some data that might make you money then you need to consider if the data will make $20/mo (less than 2 ticks on the ES) more than you would without it.

Hi trader1512,
$TICK is available in NinjaTrader, however, your data provider must offer data for indicies.
Since Zen-Fire offers data for futures only, $TICK will not be available through this provider.
As an aside, BarChart, DTN.IQ and eSignal all offer a 'data only' service at a discounted rate which may fit your needs here.
Barchart.com (subscriptions starting at $45/monthly):
https://www.barchart.com/register/realtime/?ID=NJA
IQFeed offers a 7-day free trial for NinjaTrader users.

eSignal promotional rate for NinjaTrader clients:

thanks for the feedback.
i have found that if you have a TDAmeritrade account you can access these indicators via thier strategy desk.
this is an inexpensive way to get this information. unfortunately NT does not support the feed so you will have to open up TD's interface.
I am looking into other tools they may provide which could be helpful.

Hi,
NinjaTrader does support the TDA connection. If you create a connection using your master account information you should be able to get that indices data through TDA.
The following link will take you to a page that details the steps required for creating a connection to TD AMERITRADE and specific connection configuration information.
Click here to take me to the TD AMERITRADE Connection Guide (http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/support_TDAMERITRADE.htm)

Hi,
You can have each connection setup, but you would not be able to connect to each at the same time, so, yes, you are correct.

Hi, I'm connecting via AMERITRADE, i've done quite a few searches and added the tick data to the instrument manager. I can see the data, but I cannot plot it?
It freezes on the retrieving data, cannot be cancelled message.
I'm retrieving w/ the symbol ^tick
I'm using 6.5.1000.14

Hi desiSurfer,
Since TD Ameritrade does not offer historical $TICK or $TRIN data, you will need to make sure to set the chart to load without historical data.
In the Format Data Series window, under the Range Settings section, use Bars Back=0.
This should allow you to open the chart successfully.

Hi desiSurfer,
Can you provide me with an image of your Format Data Series window with the options you are trying to use?
To take a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CRTL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and attach the file to your next reply.

Ah, I see that many others than me are also in the same situation ;)
What did you guys go for?
I am also contemplating BarCharts, but I`m curious if Live Charts from eSignal might be a good option.
Then I could set up a dedicated screen for the NYSE TICK, Advancers vs Decliners and a watchlist of the sector ETFs from the S&P 500 universe.
That is pretty much what I need ;)
Thanks in advance,
Johnny

I ended up realizing that I can get market internals from thinkorswim, which I also have. They have that data available on their platform.
