View Full Version : NT or MB Trading lag problem in fast markets

I have noticed twice now in fast market conditions that NT seriously lags TS and E-Signal as well as pit squawk quotes/feeds for correct ES and NQ quotes, sometimes by 2 or more points. Is this a NT problem or an MB Trading feed problem? I suspect NT may be contributing since if I log out of MB and then back in the quoutes "catch up". This lag shows on basic entry and Dynamic DOM.

Any one else noticing this?

I can assure that it is not an NT problem. I should add, NT is built an optimized to handle institutional grade feeds like TT and Zen-Fire without problems.

The only reason I wondered about NT being part of the problem was that logging on and off of my MB Trading access cleared up the problem. Does NT run part of the MBT Navigator when it loads ? Is it the MBT Navigator/Feed that is lagging?

A specific instance of the problem occurred this morning at 9:00 CST when the markets got fast due to Fed Chairman commentary.

When you disconnect, you clear up an buffer on the MBT server side that may be building which could have caused delay. Then when you reconnect, all is back to normal. Any delay is on the data feed side not NT.

Yes,

About three months ago, there was a serious lag. I contacted my broker (Global Futures) and inquired about the situation. They replied that their PATS servers were delayed but it wasbecause the data from the exchange was being delayed. They admitted this was quite a problem.

Since then I an looking to open another data feed such as IB, in hopes they have better performance.

What have you found?

Thanks

Hello vjahn

Have you has better luck with IB? From what little I know IB maybe faster because it does not distribute every tick but only the ticks which 'extend' the bar. So IB seems to work better when markets get very fast.

Howdy,

OOps, havent checked for a reply.

Never did open a new account as doing so takes some time and the delay was usually noticed in a run-away market, such as a Fed announcement day.

Thought Id find more about zen-fire in the meantime, perhaps this will help.

Well, FWIW, MB Trading admitted in a round-about fashion that their quote provider could not keep up. Sort of like, "yeah, we know about it but we don't really talk about it." At least they admitted it was a problem.
