trouble with initial connection to IB

Hi I just subscribed to NT and I have a IB and ts acct. I followed the walk thru video for conecting with IB but I keep gettin a "pop up" that says -- log in failed IB adaptor. sart tws: cant find reg. key "trader work station" ---

I'm sure its something simple, ideas how to fix?

Downgrade to 856 standalone version.

Can you tell me what version of TWS you are currently using. If you have TWS 857, you need to downgrade to the Standalone version 856. You can downgrade from here:

Sorry about the time between replys, had to step out for a bit. Thanks for the help I will downloading 856 now.

Another question- do I need to get my data feed from ts if I'm hooked up to IB?

Hi Dave,

You have to. IB is a datafeed provider as well.

HI Vincent, just to clarify - I do not need to hook up to Ts if I'm hooked in with IB and I can trade with just the IB connection?

By the way the 856 download worked and I was able to connect.

Hi Dave,

You are correct in understanding. You can connect to both IB and TS at the same time, but you can also connect to just IB alone.
