As I understand it, theformula forWoodie's pivots=(Yest high + Yest low + (Today's Open x 2) ) divided by 4. Woodie uses 9:30 - 4:00 market hours.
Do my chart stop and start times affect the pivot numbers?
I also noticed the pivots for my 5 minute charts are different than my 133 tick chart with the same symbol and market times. Is this correct??
Please let me know the proper settings.
Thanks!

a) Indicators go by stop and start times set.
b) Hmmm .. like you said Woodies pivots go by High/Low/Open, meaning if they are different on two different timeframes, the High/Low/Open on the data of these timeframes is different. Can you please check?
Thanks

I double checked my open/close times on both charts, they are the same.
5 min YM shows Woodies Pivots at:
R1 10776, PP 10734, S110706
133tick YM for same day shows:
R1 10755, PP 10720, S1 (didn't show on scaling)
Does the fact I'm comparing a 133tick chart to a minute chart have any bearing on the descrepancies in the Woodie's Pivots?
Thanks for your help!

Please check that previous day's high and low and current day's open are the same on both charts. These 3 values make up Woodies Pivots.

I beg to differ with Ninja - Dierck. But Laura is correct when she presents Woodie's calculation of his pivot. Please make the changes to the Ninja indicator. Thank you.

We are not debating the calcuation. We are simply asking if the OHLC data for today and the previous day are the same on both Laura's time and tick based charts. If these values are different, than the pivot values would be different.

NinjaTrader_Ray,
I chose this thread as it was the only one addressing the subject of Woodie's pivot. I have no insight into Laura's charts/different pivot point problem. and I failed to address this in my previous thread.
However, I do wish you would recheck Ninja's calculation for the Woodie's pivot point indicator. I checked Woodie's website, and if necessary, ask you to do the same, to be of the opinion that the indicator is being calculated incorrectly. Note NinjaTrader_Dierk indicates 3 values.
The calculation for the pivot point includes 4 values: yesterday's 09:30 am eastern time (usa) open (1) plus yesterday's 04:00 pm close (2) plus today's 09:30 am open twice (3&4), all divided by 4.
thanks for your assistance

Do you have a link a hand describing the calcs you mentioned so we could crosscheck and eventually amend our implementation?
Thanks in advance

The Woodie's pivot calculations are based upon 9:30 to 4:00 values. I use 24 hr charts. Is it possible to use the values at 9:30 and 4:00 for application to 24 hr charts?

Unfortunately this is not supported.
