Reloading a previous sim chart

Hi guys,

In the first version of NT5 I installed, when running sim, if I closed a session and came back to sim later, the chart would open with my previous sessions candles already on it, thus presenting me with 1, 2 or 3 days chart data.

I am now using the latest version of NT5 and notice that if I close a session and start a new one later, my chart starts blank, and I have to let it run for an hour or two before I get enough candles to begin my analysis and playing with indicators etc.

How can I get it to open up and continue from previous sessions?

Hi,

Do you have the 'Market recorder' option checked in under Tools--> Options--> Misc tab?

Also what do you mean by: Can a moderator please do the honours?

Vince, the market data recorder box is unchecked.

regarding the later, I thought you may want to move this thread to the Charting section where I should have originally posted. Just housekeeping stuff.

Sorry for confusion. There are two different market data recorders active in NT
a) one which records trade/tick data and stores it as minute and tick bars to the DB
b) another one which includes e.g. bid/ask and even level 2 data and saves it to files

a) is always turned on as you open a chart
b) is turned on as adviced by Vincent

None of the recorders records data from the "Replay data feed" or the "Simulated data feed". It has to be a "live" data feed.

-> you won't see any chart data recorded by the "Simulated data feed"

OK. So when I opened a chart before, in the same market for a new session but was getting the previous session's data appearing in the chart, that was an anomaly?

You only would see chart data of the previous session if
a) downloaded from a provider of historical data (eSignal, DTN ...)
b) recorded by NT (when you had established a "live" connection, no "sim" or "replay").
