In version 6.0.1000.5 (I am putting off upgrading till 6.5 is released), I sometimes see a problem where the available strategies to backtest is completely empty when I right click on an instrument (say EURUSD) and choose backtest or optimize.

This is not a permanent problem because later (perhaps after I rebooted?), I will see the instrument again. I don't know why the problem occurs in the first place or why it goes away again...

Thanks for your thoughts.

Please try with 6.0.1000.7. If you can pinpoint the issue we would greatly appreciate it too. Thanks.

I tried, but failed installation. "Cabinet file corrupt".
I will just use the charts, which seem to be working, until NT 6.5 is released.

To install please follow these steps:
1) Uninstall old version of NinjaTrader
2) Clear your browser cache
3) Reinstall new version of NinjaTrader

Dear Josh, instead of uninstalling NT 6, I decided to install NT 6.5. I observed the same problem and posted it to NT 6.5 application thread. I am going to try uninstalling NT 6 and reinstalling it again. I will let you know how it goes.

Hi Josh, I just installed 6.0.1000.7 and got the same result. Since I see that the settings were preserved from 6.0.1000.5 (for example the connections and the instrument list), I doubt that I am getting at the heart of the problem. I wonder if I should just blow away the Ninja Trader directory under My Documents, but that seems like a dangerous thing to do...

Hmm. I suspect you might have a strategy that is having compile problems. Unfortunately this will be a tough nut to crack. First try moving all custom NinjaScripts away from your My Documents. Recompile. See if your strategy list is back. Slowly, one-by-one, reintroduce your NinjaScripts. Recompile and see if it still remains active.

If this is too troublesome you can just opt for nuking your NinjaTrader folders in My Documents. This will remove all your settings. If you have any custom NinjaScripts you might want to back those up. Please have your license key written down too. You might need to reinput that.
