I have several programs that use iqfeed ..
Often IQfeed will exit when I close one of them. This appears to be normal IQFeed behavior.
The other programs seem to recover ... they just start the IQFeed back up again.

However, NT doesn't

You can easily recreate ...
Start NT,
COnnect to IQFeed (Iq feed will start and it's icon will be in the sys-tray)
No force IQFeed to terminate by right-clicking it's icon and select Exit
NT will 'disconnect.. wth a Red Status '' but it never recovers from this. Sometimes .. I can just disconnect and reconnect again. Othertimes I have to restart NT.

NT won't recover as you manuallt terminate the IQFeed client.

NT won't recover as you manuallt terminate the IQFeed client.

I'm not manually exiting the client .. That was just an example to re-create.

However, the iqfeed client will exit when another program finishes.
For example .. Start NT and Omnitrader and connect both to IQfeed.
Quit Omni.. Iqfeed client also quits. NT goes into la-la land.

Sometimes .. you can make NT recover by disconnect/reconnect.
But of course, that just kills all your running strategies ...

I've asked IQfeed support to see if they can help.

Thanks for clarification. Note: NT does not "kill" the IQFeed client purposely but just close the communication sockets as advised by their customer support for their API.

Some the issues with IQ are now resolved.
Another app had installed an old copy of the iqfeed client and placed this into the system path.

This resulted in the IQ client starting with some back level files.
