TT FIX Connection

I've recently been searching for a new broker. A potential broker asked me whether NT connects to TT through FIX or if it instead uses XTraderPro's API.
I thought it was directly through a FIX connection, using TT's FIX Adapter, but I just wanted to make 100% sure.
