How come the same charts (instrument, timeframe, indicators, etc)
and I mean they are identical in their settings
look somewhat different on the smaller timeframes and really different on the bigger ones
if comparing NT 7 and NT 6.5 side by side?

Also, I was told to use 1440 minutes to imitate 1 day time frame in NT 6.5
Now why is that when I look at the chart of 2880 minute in NT 6.5 it looks so much different than the chart of 2 Day in NT 7?

Also, why can't I have my 2880 minute time frame in NT 7? Why did you limit it by 1440 minutes and then I have to go by days?

I give you an example,
I want a 2 day chart of ES with the bollinger bands. Now in NT 6.5 I have to make it 2880 minutes and so the bollinger bands update every minute.
When I am using NT 7 I have to make it a 2 Day chart and so my bollinger bands will be updated only DAILY. Get the difference?

I mean you guys just made it less flexible, and who needs this kinda software?

Hello eddieban,

Thank you for your post.

Please provide screenshots of these charting differences in 6.5 & 7, make sure to also include the settings use so that we can attempt to recreate the issue on our end.

For the 2880 minute chart item, you should be able to use Type = Minute & then input 2880. What issue or error are you running into?

Thank you,

In NT 7 if I use 2880 minutes I get a chart identical to a chart of 1440.
Moreover, everything more than 1440 still gets you a 1440 chart.

I will have the screenshots for you later today.

So, as you may see, v6.5 and v7 charts of the same time frame of the same instrument are NOT THE SAME. (the data series settings are 24/7 global, 12am to 12 am on both v6.5 and v7)

What is more interesting here is that v7 ES 2880 MINUTE looks identical to 1 DAY or 1440 MINUTE time frames which means that NT v7 is not able to plot a chart of >1440 minute.

Am I right? I hope I'm not because I cannot really use NT v7 so long as you, guys, don't fix it.

Also, look how 1440 minute is different from 1 DAY
and look how 1 DAY in 6.5 is different from 1 DAY in 7
and 1440 MINUTE in 6.5 and 1440 MINUTE in 7

I thought that all four of these time frames must be identical:
1) 1 day in 6.5
2) 1 day in 7
3) 1440 minute in 6.5
4) 1440 minute in 7

But they are NOT.

Any hints, or is it even possible to have them show the same?

Hello,

Sure they will be very close to identical when you use the same session template. This is key in NinjaTrader 7. As this chooses what data to display or not to display.

Right click on the chart->Data Series->Session template.

This would need to corrispond to the right click->properties->session start/end times in NT 6.5.

Also, the session template only effects intraday charts. Does not effect daily charts. Where you are forced to use the session template of the server.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
