Hello,
My NT6.5 sometimes lags and even doesn't respond at all, while the PC still works perfectly well. My setup is NT6.5 / IB / i5 760 / 8G Ram / Win7 64bit.
NT6.5 can work well all day without any issue, with CPU loading ~3%, and Ram ~25%. But sometimes CPU loading will go up to 25%, NT become very slow and non-responsive. Then I have to restart NT6.5 for recovery. P.S. I don't run other programs at the same time.
Don't know why, as the issue only happens sometimes. THX.

Hello pipal,
Do you notice any consistency when NinjaTrader 6.5 lags and becomes unresponsive?
Could it be this only occurs during periods with high volatility?

Hi Jason, yes it seems to start to occur during fast market with heavy T&S data. But it appears that NT6.5 won't get back to normal even after the period of high volalitity.

It can take a while before it runs smooth again. Likely there are many commands waiting in line to be processed due to the high volatility.
You can avoid such behavior by reducing memory request of NinjaTrader. If you have 'Calculate on bar close' set to False for indicators, I suggest to set it to True. When set to False, each indicator is calculated on each incoming tick. So during high volatility, NinjaTrader will need to make many calculations.

Thanks Jason. I will try what you suggested next week.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Jason,
Today I tried the same setup on NT7 RC1 instead, as I guess NT7 could be more effiicient than NT6.5. NT7 works very well even during period of high volatiIity and with all indicators setting 'Calculate on bar close' to False.
Can you confirm that NT7 can work better in this respect? Thx.

Hello pipal,
Yes, NinjaTrader 7 has been improved as per general application performance. Core sections were re-written in order to be more efficient in terms of memory usage and CPU utilization.
