Hi. Here is my question.
Market is at 20, I use NT position strategy to set a position: an order to enter a long position at, say, 50 with a stop (not trailing, just plain stop) at 30, no profit targets.
I switch off PC and go away. Market goes up, hits 50. I guess I am in . But does NT send the stop order automatically? Even if it is not running?
From a previous answer to a similar question you said that trailing stops would not work. I assume that you meant that plain stops would, but I would like a confirmation of this.
Thanks

Hi Gretrade,
You are correct in understanding. The order is pending and therefore already send. When you connect again, you will here 'order filled' and when you open up a SuperDOM you will see the working order.

Thanks for your reply.
I am sorry to pick this up again, but I still am not sure. The first stop (the entry order at 50) is hit, even if NT is not running. OK. Now, I am interested in what happens next. Can you confirm that the second stop (the stop at 30 to get out of the position) is send as soon as the first stop (at 50) is hit even if NT is not running?
In other words when I switch off the PC, after having set up the strategy in NT, I am still flat (market is at 20) and when I switch it on again, I am flat again after being long at 50 and stopped out at 30. All this while NT is not running?
Apologies for the insistence.

OK, I have to take this topic up again.
Contracts: EUR and GBP futures on Globex. NT +IB
Last night (around 21.30 European time) I have entered ordersvia SuperDome. I have usedone of my usual strategies:enter via a stop limit order andexit via a stop (stop limit order)once the position is entered. (It works OK during the day).
I have seen the orders pendingon IB. Based on your answers on this thread, I confidently switched off all PCs and went away.
This morning I see from IB that I am short EUR and GBP, BUTWITH NO STOP WHATSOEVER!!!! Basically I was lucky that the markets did not retrace and go the other way.
In addition, there is no sign of any order, execution or position on NT.
This is exactly theopposite of you told me last time. Can we clear this misunderstanding : ITIS NOT POSSIBLE TO LEAVE THESE STRATEGIES OPEN OVERNIGHT ? or can you tell me if how to make it work?
Regards
Gretrade

Hi Gretrade,
Orders need to be GTC and not DAY.
You also need to enable under the General tab of the Settings Manager 'Use GTC TIF For Stop Loss And Profit Target Orders'

The "Use GTC TIF" etc. box it ticked and all my strategies are set onGTC.

Then best call IB to determine why your orders were cancelled overnight.
