I have been using nt with trdadesattion over two weeks now, the problem I face is initial connection, there is no fixed sequence resulting in successful connection, such as sometime i start NT first, connect to external feed and than start TS, simetime it connects and sometime it does not, forcing me to quit one or the other palteform, restart it and do connection again, othertimes I start TS first it give a error message that NT is not accepting connection because it is not running, than I start NT and connect it to external feed than it may or may not work.
I have read instructions for TS connection carefully and follow them, I also check if NTexternalfeed strategy is on and so forth.
Today i am unable to make connection altogether, no matter what sequence I use.
When TS is not connected, there will be no data in dome or charts.
Help is appreciated

Hello,
Please follow the instructions below.
1) Open NinjaTrader
2) Connect to the External Data feed
3) Open Trade Station
4) Right click in the TS and re insert the NTExternal Feed strategy and remove the old one.
You should now receive data within NinjaTrader. Please do this every morning to ensure that you receive data.

Hello,
Please ensure that the contract date you are using within NinjaTrader and TS are the same. For example ( ES 09-07 and ESU07).
If the contract dates are different, you will need to reset the symbol mapping within NinjaTrader, and instructions can be found below.

No connection yet after following mapping instruction. It used to work just fine without mapping.

After several attempts, I was able to connect to TS, but I cannot get the superdom to connect today no matter what I do. I have followed the instructions to the letter. Any tips would be great. I am trading the ER2.

Are you able to receive data in charts or analyzer?. What version of tradestation you are using. This connection issue happens everyday but today its at its worse

trader333,
I have Tradestation version 8.1 SP1 (Build 3264). I installed NJ this past Friday, and I followed all the instructions, and it worked perfectly. Today is only the 2nd day I have used it. The superDOM is what I really want to work, as it is the closest replica of the matrix on TS. I still haven't been able to get it to work today.

This thread describes exactly my problem. I can't get NT to receive data from TS. I've had NT for a while but haven't used it because most times it won't connect to TS. What was the fix for the problem on this thread? I'm trying to get YM and ER data from TS....which looks like a direct map from TS. I follow the sequence listed on the connection site, but don't get any data.
Help!

Hi jdaniel46:
Follow the Account Setup Guide for TS and ensure you are not using the continuous contract.
Account Setup Guide:
http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/support_TradeStation.htm (http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/support_TradeStation.htm)
The continuous contract is represented by an @ symbol in the TS chart. If the TS Chart symbol has an @ sign, then Right Click in the TS Chart, select Format Symbol. Change the contract name (i.e. @ES should be ESZ07 ‘ES Dec. 07’). There are also symbols that end with a ‘.d’--i.e. ‘ER2Z07.d’. If this is the case, then remove the .d at the end.
After correcting the symbol name, re-insert the Strategy NT External Feed (steps in Account Setup Guide) from the TS chart. Also, ensure you have the correct symbol mapping in NinjaTrader Instrument Manager\Misc. (more on symbol mapping also in the Account Setup Guide)
Please let me know if you are still unable after performing the prescribed steps. Thank you again for using NinjaTrader.

Thanks for your quick reply. I'm trying to link to "YMZ07" data. I have that chart up (5min) with the NT External Data strategy activated. It looks like the map in NT is correct as is.....Under "External" it shows "YM" in the Instrument Manager and shows up as YM 12-07 in the Control Center.
I think this is consistent with all the instructions.

I found that even though I had "activated" the NTExternalData strategy in TS, when I went back and checked, it was "off". I could not get it to activate in the chart window I was using with my other indicators. So, I opened a separate window with only the price data in it (no indicators at all) and activated the strategy in that window. The strategy stays "On" now and I'm getting data to NT! Thanks for your assistance....think thats it for now. Thought this info might be helpful to others.
