Please add the EURCAD instrument to your Default. I have provided a link below to our Help Guide that goes over Adding/Removing Instruments.

http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/HelpGuideV6/AddRemoveFromList.html

Next please go to the Orders tab of the Control Center-->Type: select Default from the drop down window-->Name: select $EURCAD from the drop down window.

Please let me know if you receive data after this procedure.

I did as you asked and still no quotes. The chart loads, but does not update and there are no quotes in the control center either.

I did as you asked and there are no $EURUSD quotes, nor any quotes for any of the crosses.

However, there are XAUUSD quotes for the very first time!

they show 3 decimals though. I'm not sure that should be and wonder if it has to do with instrument manager settings? Do you know what they should be?

Hi,

Have you checked the log tab in the control center? Is there an error message listed?

In addition, what version are you using? Our current release is V6.5.1000.16 which you can check under Help--> About.

I upgraded to 6.5.1000.6 and still no EURCAD quotes, nor any other cross.

I set up my GAIN account to use gain servers for the history this time, to make sure I could get any prices from GAIN for the crosses. I can, but the charts don't update and the Control Panel won't display prices either.

also, i continue to get 3 decimals on my XAUUSD quotes in control panel. Is there any way to fix that?

Hello crmcwi,

Default settings and a demo login should work to view this instrument along with other currency pairs with the Gain connection. Are you using a demo or live login?

You can follow the procedure below to rename your databse. This could resolve if the issue was with instrument settings or data corruption. Renaming will create a new database and you will lose any historical data, trade executions, as well as saved ATM strategy templates.

To rename the DB:

Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> DB--> NinjaTrader.MDB.
Right click on NinjaTrader.MDB and select "Rename."
Name it "NewNinjaTrader.MDB."
Then restart the software.

Let us know if you are still unable to view data through the Gain connection by sending us a note to support@ninjatrader.com and reference this thread:

yes, this is a live account with GAIN, but I'm trading mini lots.

Also, before I do this I have a question.

Once I rename the MDB and restart NT, NT will create a new MDB. This leads me to think that if I get the quotes something's wrong with the MDB.

Whether I get quotes or not, shouldn't I be able to shutdown NT. Delete the MDB and name the New*.MDB file back to the original name and I should then see my history, yes?

Hi crmcwi,

Yes, that is correct - reversing the procedure will put your history back in to place.

guys, I followed the procedure precisely. there are no quotes on EURCAD nor any other cross. I created a chart. I set the days back to 15. The only candles were from the open today. There was a price for the last trade, but it never moved in 10 minutes.

Hello crmcwi,

For this issue, I will need you to send me your Log & Trace files for the most recent trade date.

You can locate these files in the (My) Documents folder at the file path::
1. Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 > Trace > trace.YYYYMMDD.txt
2. Documents > NinjaTrader 6.5 > Log > log.YYYYMMDD.txt

You can attach them to your email & we will review them on our end. Please also include the link to this forum thread.

Send the email to support AT ninjatrader DOT com

Thank you,

After reviewing your trace file I see the following error:

2010-06-28 07:52:35:914 (GAIN LIVE) Cbi.Connection.ProcessEventArgs.ConnectionStatusEv entArgs ConnectionLost ConnectionLost NoError Connection to Rates interface lost: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connecti

2010-06-28 07:52:35:915 (GAIN LIVE) Cbi.ConnectionStatusEventArgs.Process: ConnectionLost ConnectionLost

We realize that lost connections can be frustrating. A connection state between NinjaTrader and your broker/market data vendor is not dictated by NinjaTrader. The NinjaTrader application only reports the connection state as it is reported by the API you are connected through. NinjaTrader behaves like a radio receiver in that it receives signals from the connected server. If the signals are not coming through, the underlying broker/market data vendor API reports this to the NinjaTrader application which in turn reports this back to you. Once a loss of connection is reported, NinjaTrader or the underlying API wil continuously try to re-establish a connection.

Common reasons that contribute to connection stability are:

ISP issues
Hardware firewall changing IP addresses frequently
Dynamic IP addresses changing frequently intraday. Usually this happens once a week buy you may want to check with your ISP. If they do change daily, requesting a static IP address may help.
With Windows XP SP2, if you have more than 10 open TCPIP socket connections (10 programs making socket connections through the internet) Windows will randomly shut down some connections
Broker/market data servers may be experiencing temporary downtime
