View Full Version : Configuring a strategy to use an Interactive Brokers

I want to allocate my strategies to different InteractiveBrokers clientIds, to keep the trades and the accounting seperate.

So I have set up two InteractiveBrokers accounts in NT's Accounts wizard. They both use the same InteractiveBrokers account, but the first has the ClientID == 1 and the other == 2.

I connect both and then try to add the strategies.

However the connections don't appear in the Strategy properties dialog, only the Account dropdown. This dropdown only contains my IB account number. So I can't choose the Connection and I can't choose the Client ID.

Is this deliberate or is there something I can do to set up my strategies on the particular connection I want with the Client ID I have set?

I see there is a 'Connection' column in the Strategies grid, but it seems to select one or the other randomly.

Thanks

Hello adamus,

Thank you for your post.

This is expected behavior within NinjaTrader. In order to have access to mulitple accounts within NinjaTrader they must be seperate accounts under the same username and password as apposed to sharing one main account number.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

The problem with having separate accounts with IB is that the funds in the accounts will then be completely separate, and I need to have it all in one pool for margin requirements.

I'd like to suggest that you add this feature, since it makes the overview of the trading activity much more complicated when the strategies' results are inseparable.

I will forward this to our development team for future considerations.

Thanks! I think you'd definitely make NT more attractive to traders with IB if you implement that.
